When I tell people I spent time traveling in West Africa, they always ask the same question. What animals did you see? My answer is one monkey, lots of goats, some rather surly dogs and a few bugs that I really don’t want to ever see again.

But then I tell them about what I really saw. And that answer is simple. I saw goodness. I saw people really helping each other out everyday because simply that’s all that was important. I saw kids with genuine smiles, laughing with me as we learned how to jitter bug and they tried fixing my hair. I saw moms like me except to be honest – their kids were well more behaved than mine every were.

What I loved most was crossing generations in my travel. Engaging with real people of all ages in their real lives. I’d love to hear your stories about different generations you have met on your travels both close to home and afar.
